I often get asked why do I like writing or how did I decided to become a writer.

Well, truth to be told it all started very unexpectedly. I never thought to be a writer.

It is kind of funny and extraordinary the way I got into writing.

As you might all know I always loved reading books, but one summer day I was reading a book I had received as an award from my high school, and I got so into it that I finished the whole book in a few days. But this was not my writing start point. Days and weeks passed and one day out of sudden I got a nice idea that I first thought would be great for a school project, but little did I knew that that small idea eventually will become bigger and bigger and eventually will give the spark to my mind and make me give a try to writing.

After that and as the time went by, with me writing and editing the whole story, I come to realize that I actually enjoyed and loved writing and the idea to become a writer.

That made me to keep writing and writing new stories at every single free time I possibly had. You would see me in school, sitting on the stairs, on the bus at my way to school/home, at the beach or even while having dinner, noting down any new idea that would strike in my mind.

There are many perks of being a writer. Below I will mention few best things, in my opinion, about being a writer.

Lower levels of depression / stress : You empty your mind—by capturing everything that comes to it—in order to eliminate the stress that causes having many things hitting your head, writing and developing your ideas produces an amplified effect since not only you take them out of your mind but also the whole process of rationalization that otherwise would abstractly stay in there.

Making a difference in once life: As a writer you often make your readers to reflect and get one with your characters. You make them attach themselves into your character, and think themselves as the character itself. They get emotionally attached to the things your character is going through. This not only makes your reader get away from their daily routine and give an adventure into their life but also it might help them with some struggles they might be facing or even give them the courage and the support they were seeking for to make a change in their life.

You will communicate with clarity. Unlike talking, when you write you look for more sophisticated words and expressions to describe what you have in mind. This helps you build a structure that will allow you to express yourself better and communicate complex ideas in a much more effective way.

You will make better decisions. When writing you clear up your thoughts and, obviously, a clearer thinking allows you to make better choices.

You will live more focused. If you constantly write about your thoughts you will never get out of sight what you want to achieve, which your dreams are.

You will overcome tough moments faster. There is some research that suggests that those that write about what is happening overcome tough moments quicker than those who don’t.

You’ll enjoy having a completely flexible schedule. A major advantage of being a writer is the ability to start working in your pajamas each morning. As long as you have Internet access for research and a computer at your home, you can make coffee and start penning your work before you've even showered. This makes your day flexible. You can take a break for a workout, eat lunch at home, and save money on gas and dry cleaning, expenses that add up for workers expected to arrive at an office Monday through Friday.

Lifelong job: You can write as long as you wish, even your whole life.
